IP is the result of creativity and innovation – intangible assets that are now estimated to represent over 60% of global market value. IP assets are drivers of the economy. The materials you read, the brands you buy, the designs you covet, the inventions that make life easier – all these are forms of IP assets.
Do you know what you need to understand in order to appreciate IP issues arising from contractual obligations, copyright, co-ownership, national interests, etc.? Do you find yourself caught in a dilemma? Do you know the risks involved and how to manage them?
Public officers need to understand how IP is relevant to their work scope and their organisations. There is no longer a world that trades with brick-and-mortar assets only. Companies and countries compete with and for IP.
Join IP Academy (Singapore) and Civil Service College – Institute of Public Administration and Management for a series of “IP Matters in Public Sector” seminars, where you will receive grounding in IP basics to help you understand the relevance of IP to the public sector and appreciate issues that may arise in the course of your daily work.
At this inaugural seminar, you will hear from public sector practitioners about the fundamentals of IP and get an insider’s view on dealing with the most talked-about IP – copyright, through sharing and exchanges of real-life challenges and issues encountered in their course of work.
Objectives
The objective of the seminar is to raise the attendees' awareness of IP relevance to the public sector and more specifically, to be able to identify copyright issues that may arise in the course of their work.
Target Audience
All Division 1 and 2 Officers, especially those who manage information and data or have dealings with the private sector or foreign counterparts.
